ASHLEE SIMPSON HAS SON

By Liz Hodgson - Posted on 21 November 2008

Actress and singer Ashlee Simpson has given birth to a son, Bronx Mowgli Wentz.
The baby weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz at Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles and was 20 ½ inches long.
Simpson, 24, married Fall Out Boy bass player Pete Wentz, 29, in May, and they announced the pregnancy a couple of weeks later.
“Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes,” a spokesman for the couple said.
The birth comes nearly three weeks after Wentz told a radio show his wife was: “Very pregnant. She’s at the very end and it could happen at any point.”
And on Monday singer Jessica Simpson told talk-show hostess Ellen DeGeneres her sister was considering inducing labour, adding: “I think she’s really just jumping around trying everything right now.”
There was no explanation for the unusual names, but during the pregnancy Wentz said: “I want to meet the baby first. My friend said it – you’ve gotta have a baby with a name that could be a rock star or a senator, so he’ll get work either way.”
Three weeks ago Simpson, along with Jessica, mum Tina and friend Nicole Riche, had a Winnie-the Pooh themed baby shower at the Hotel Bel Air.
Wentz has been taking fatherhood tips from fellow rocker Joel Madden, who has a 10-month-old daughter, Harlow, with Richie.
“Joel gives me advice,” he told People magazine. “It’s been really awesome for me to go to another person my age.”
Simpson kept a low profile during her pregnancy but blogged about her excitement on her MySpace page during the summer.
“Carrying a child is the most inspiring, emotional, amazing experience of my life,” she wrote. “I am only concerned with having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.”
Both new parents have already said they look forward to having more children.
“I would love to have a big family one day,” Simpson said. And Wentz added: “A big soccer team or a band.”
