BONO RESCUES SPIDER-MAN

The troubled Broadway production of Spider-Man is moving ahead thanks to help from Bono, who, with The Edge, wrote the score.
The show was closed down last month because producer David Garfinkle bust his $45 million budget.
But designers and some stage hands were due to go back to work yesterday, and the U2 frontman is said to have been the one coming to the rescue.
“Bono's too smart to but his own money in the show, but word on the street is that's tapped into his vast network of rich friends and business associates to restart production,” said New York Post theatre writer Michael Riedel.
“Bono feeds half of Africa, so raising a few more million for Spider-Man shouldn't be too difficult.
Money alone may not save the show, however.
Even before production closed advance tickets were not selling, with total sales said to be little more than $1 million.
“We couldn't sell the show before it shut down,” said a ticket agent.
There are also worries about who is actually in charge, with the creators losing faith in Garfinkle and director Julie Taymor said to distancing herself from the financial mess.
Previews of Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark, are due to start on February 25.
