Pop star Britney Spears has settled a lawsuit brought a photographer whose foot she ran over two years ago.
Ricardo Mendoza sued the Circus star for assault, battery and negligently driving her car in the incident outside a medical building in Beverly Hills.
The incident occurred just hours after Spears lost custody of her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, and Mendoza claimed her minders should have know she was in no condition to drive safely.
Terms of the settlement were not revealed.
When Mendoza filed the lawsuit in May he asked for unspecified damages, but amended his complaint last month to as for nearly $230,000 in damages and medical expenses.
Spears' lawyer Benjamin C Alvarez described Mendoza and a “self-serving, profit hungry paparazzo,” who “positioned and placed himself in the roadway in front of ms Spears' vehicle.”
At the time of the incident Mendoza was working for celebrity site TMZ, which auctioned off his tyre-stained sock for $585.
Since then Spears, 28, has regained partial custody of her sons, now four and three.
Earlier this year she was given shared custody with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, for her Circus tour, and last month a judge extended that order until the end of the year.
Spears, currently top of the US charts with her single 3,takes her tour to Australia next month.
