CHRIS BROWN GETS COMMUNITY SERVICE

Singer Chris Brown has been sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service for assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Rihanna.
He was also ordered to stay away from the Umbrella singer for five years.
Brown, 20, will serve his community sentence in Virginia, removing graffiti, washing cars and cleaning and maintaining public spaces.
He pleaded guilty in June to one count of felony assault after beating Rihanna during a row after a pre-Grammy party in February.
As part of his plea bargain with prosecutors a second charge of making felony threats was dropped.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg also ordered Brown not to have any contact with Rihanna, 21, for five years, including phone calls and e-mails.
He must stay at least 100 yards away from her – 10 yards if they are appearing at the same event.
Rihanna's lawyer Donald Etra had previously asked the judge to reduce restrictions on contact between the two; in June the court warned Rihanna not to contact Brown.
In an apparent reference to reports that the two have been in touch, Judge Schnegg warned Brown: “I'm not immune to any chatter on the airwaves.
“Do you understand that any violation of this order is a violation of your probation and it comes with the possible penalty of prison?”
Brown, dressed in a sober grey suit and striped tie, said: “yes.”
Rihanna was not present at the hearing.
His six-month community service will be personally supervised by the chief of police in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia.
He also has to undertake a year-long domestic violence programme, must report to court every three months throughout his probation, and has to pay a total of $5,000 in fees and costs.
And he is banned from owning any weapons, and can be stopped and searched by police at any time.
In July Brown issued a public apology for his actions, saying: “I have told Rihanna countless times, and I am telling you today, that I am truly sorry and that I wasn't able to handle the situation both differently and better.
After he was sentenced it emerged Brown had been involved in two previous incidents with Rihanna.
According to a probation report they had a row in Europe last November in which she slapped him and he slammed her into a wall.
Three weeks before his February arrest they had another argument in her native Barbados while they were driving.
Brown got out of the car and smashed the driver's a front passenger's windows.
