CRAIG FERGUSON'S SUICIDE BID

Scottish actor and comedian Craig Ferguson has revealed he once contemplated suicide by throwing himself off London's Tower Bridge.
Ferguson, 47, who starred in The Craig Ferguson Story and Amazing Grace before moving to the United States, recalls his lowest point in his upcoming memoir, American on Purpose.
The Glaswegian funnyman, who now hosts The Late Late Show on American television, woke up in a storeroom in a pub on Christmas day in a pool of vomit and urine.
He wrote: “I felt worse than I ever had. I was a drunk, a loser and a terrible disaster as a human being. The shame was immense. It pushed down on me like a terrible weight.”
The shame prompted him to head to Tower Bridge, which was nearby.
But on the way, according to the New York Daily News, he bumped into a friend who cheered him up and he changed his mind.
Ferguson, who boasts he has not had a drink since 1992, wears a kilt made from the Stars and Stripes on the cover of his book, to be published in September, to celebrate his original and adopted homelands and his belief in America as “the land of the second, third and 106th chance.
He is proud of Scotland, though he says he had a harsh upbringing.
But he writes that in America: “Failure is not a disgrace. It's just a pitch that you missed, and you'd better get ready for the next one.
Ferguson, who became a US citizen last year, is a voice in two animated films being released next year, The Hero of Colour City, with Christina Ricci, and How To Train Your Dragon, with Gerard Butler and America Ferrara.
