Daniel O'Donnell to help US television station
By Liz Hodgson
Irish superstar Daniel O'Donnell has had to drop out of a planned
fundraising event for an American television station because he has a
chest infection.
He was due to be the guest of honour at a cocktail party tomorrow
night at Valley Public Television in Fresno, California, to meet and
greet supporters of the station.
Guests at the US$500 event will get a pair of tickets for
O'Donnell's May 21 concert in the city, as well as wine and nibbles,
but will miss out on the chance to meet him.
His wife, Majella, said on his website: "Daniel has not been very
well over the last two weeks or so.
"He has had flu and a chest infection and he was put on antibiotics
but they did not clear it up.
"He is now on steroids for a few days and is feeling much better.
"Unfortunately he will not be travelling to the USA as the doctor has
advised him not tor travel for a couple of weeks.
"Daniel was meant to meet members of the public in some of the PBS
stations that he was visiting and he apologies (apologies) to all
those concerned.
Donegal-born O'Donnell, 46, who has sold 10 million albums and 1.5
million videos and been named as one of the top-50 best selling
artists of the century by the UK Music Hall of Fame, is due to start a
North American tour in May.
