DENIS LEARY TO HANG UP HIS HAT

Denis Leary will hang up his fireman's helmet on Rescue Me in 2011, to mark the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks.
The firefighting drama has always focused on the New York City force in the aftermath of the attacks which levelled the World Trade Center and killed nearly 3,000 people, more than 300 of them firefighters.
Peter Tolan, co-creator and executive producer of the show said: “Within the next couple of weeks we're going to begin shooting the last 19 episodes, which will be the final two season of the show.”
While the shows will be shot together, he told TV Guide: “I think they're stretching the airing of it out until the 10th anniversary.
“So if you put 10 episodes on next year and nine the following year, you'll land there.”
Tolan also hinted that former ER star Maura Tierney could return as Leary's character, tormented fireman Tommy Gavin.
“We loved working with her,” he went on. “That was kind of a big deal to get her.
“She's got Parenthood, but I think we have a deal where we can use her for four episodes. And since we have that deal, we will take advantage of it.”
In July Tierney, 44, announced she was taking eight weeks off from work on her new television comedy, Parenthood, to have surgery on a breast tumour.
Leary, 52, will next make the comedy Wild Pitch, with Adam Sandler, based on the true story of the first white man to play in the Negro Baseball League.
