KATIE HOLMES CRITICISED FOR SURI'S BOTTLE

Actress Katie Holmes has been criticised for still bottle-feeding daughter Suri – at three-and-a-half.
Superstar Tom Cruise's wife was photographed giving the tot a bottle on the Long Island, New York set of her new film, The Romantics.
Paediatrician Jennifer Shu told Us magazine: “She should have been weaned off the bottle by the time she was one year old.
“By the time kids are nine months old they have the physical development and mouth coordination necessary to be able to drink out of a sippy cup or a cup with a straw. That development comes pretty early.”
She said she does not know why Cruise, 47, and Holmes, 31, let her continue to hit the bottle but added: “You don't force kids to crawl when they can walk.”
But another baby specialist, Dr Harvey Karp, said it is not a major problem.
“Sucking is normal for kids when they are tired or bored, as long as kids aren't keeping the bottle in their mouths for hours,” he said.
He said it could be a comfort device and added: “Thumb-sucking is more damaging.”
Dr Shu said that if Suri is using the bottle for emotional security, her parents should “transition her to a different security object that doesn't cause cavities,” suggesting a blanket or a teddy bear.
