MILEY CYRUS STALKER GETS PROBATION
A man claiming to be engaged to teen singing sensation Miley Cyrus who tried to reach her on a film set has pleaded guilty to resisting police.
But stalking charges were dropped against Mark McLeod, 53, who told police the 16-year-old Hannah Montana star sent him secret messages though her television show, stored thousands of pictures of her, and letters to her on his computer, and was saving to buy her a diamond ring.
A grand jury in Georgia refused to indict him on felony stalking charges, saying there was not enough evidence to show he had malicious intent.
He admitted the lesser charges in a plea bargain which saw him sentenced to 24 months probation, with three months credit for jail time served.
He must also undergo a mental health assessment and stay away from Miley and her family, and is banned from using a computer for two years.
McLeod was freed from jail, where he had been held since his arrest on August 4, after he twice tried to get on to the Tybee Island set of Miley's film The Last Song.
The jury which declined to indict him on stalking charges did indict Sean Mathis, 22, on charges of felony terror threats and misdemeanour disorderly conduct after telling Miley's body double, Stephanie Vickers, “Hey, it's Miley Cyrus, I'm going to f***ing kill you.”
Meanwhile, a poll of nearly 45,000 users of web site Just So You Know, aimed at nine- to 15-year-olds, voted Miley Worst Celeb Influence for her controversial striper pole dance at the Teen Choice Awards in August and her infamous “slanty eyes” photo.
She won 42 per cent of the vote, ahead of Britney Spears with 27 per cent and Kanye West with 19 per cent.
