LOHAN DAD OUT OF TROUBLE FOR ONCE
Hollywood beauty Lindsay Lohan's outspoken dad is out of trouble for a change – at least for now.
Born-again Christian Michael Lohan, who has served prison time for drink-driving and assault offences, finally had something to smile about after getting off the hook over a former lover's demand for him to pay support for an alleged love child.
A Suffolk County Family Court judge on Long Island has dismissed a request that the embattled 49-year-old pay support to his alleged love child with ex-girlfriend Kristi Kaufman.
"The petition was withdrawn and all further issues will be dealt with in Montana," said Lohan's lawyer Stephanie Ovadia.
MAGNUM P.I. STAR FAILED TO DETECT DODGY HORSE
Magnum P. I. actor Tom Selleck has won a court battle after the super sleuth TV star claimed he failed to detect he was buying a dodgy horse.
Selleck, who has also starred in a string of Wild West cowboy movies, has been awarded more than US$187,000 in compensation after a California jury found he was duped into buying the lame mount.
The 64-year-old actor accused Del Mar equestrian Dolores Cuenca of trying to pass off a show horse with a medical condition as fit to ride in competitions.
The defence had argued that experienced rider Selleck did not check the veterinarian records of the 10-year-old horse named Zorro.
The bulk of the San Diego County jury's award is for the price of the horse. The rest is to cover boarding costs.
RIHANNA TATTOO PARLOUR CITED
A New York tattoo parlour which let singer Rihanna ink three members of staff has been charged by the department of Health.
East Side Ink faces a fine of up to $2,000 for “operating with an unlicensed tattoo artist on site,” according to celebrity site TMZ.
Rihanna, 21, visited the shop in July to see her regular tattoo artist, called Bang Bang.
She did not get any new body art, but Bang Bang asked her to decorate him.
He drew a design – an umbrella, based on her trademark song, with a swirly “R” underneath it -- transferred it to his lower leg and gave Rihanna the needle.
KATHERINE HEIGL TAKES BREAK FROM GREY'S ANATOMY
Actress Katherine Heigl is being written out of five episodes of Grey's Anatomy to give her time to make a film.
Heigl, 30, whose character Izzie Stevens appeared to have died of a brain tumour at the end of the last season, has already filmed six episodes of the new season and will appear in shows until the end of November.
During her break she will shoot the romantic comedy Life As We Know it, with Josh Duhamel.
She will probably be away at the same time as Ellen Pompeo, who is expecting her first baby next month, takes her maternity leave.
“The exact schedule is still in the works,” a source told Us magazine. “These plans have been in the works for a while.
THE DRINKS ARE ON JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE -- AGAIN
Generous Justin Timberlake treated every drinker in a Las Vegas nightclub to a shot of vodka.
The 28-year-old former boy band singer made an unexpected appearance at the club Lavo at the Palazzo hotel, where he had hosted a private dinner for girlfriend Jessica Biel and his business partner Trace Ayala.
He grabbed the microphone just after one in the morning and announced: “We should all believe in something and I believe it's time for another shot of tequila.
“This is a very special evening. Me and my buddy started a homegrown tequila down in Mexico and I wanted to make sure you guys got a taste, so I bought everyone in the bar a shot.”
KEANU REEVES TO TAKE DNA TEST
Actor Keanu Reeves has agreed to take a DNA test after a Canadian woman claimed he is the father of at least one of her four children.
The Matrix star Reeves, 45, denies ever having met Karen Sala, 46, who is suing him for child support and spousal support in court in Ontario.
Reeves' lawyer, Lorne Wolfson, told celebrity site TMZ he advised the actor to take the test to clear his name.
Sala, who claims she has know Reeves since she was nine, alleges she had a sexual relationship with Reeves before, during and after her marriage and that she believes he is the father of one or more of her children, now aged between 20 and 25.
LIAM NEESON NOT GOING TO FILM FESTIVAL
Actor Liam Neeson has decided not to attend the Toronto International film festival, which would have been his first major public event since the death of his wife, Natasha Richardson.
Organisers had hoped he would walk the red carpet to promote Chloe, the film he was shooting in Toronto when she died after a skiing accident in March, aged 45.
But a publicist for the film, Charlene Coy told the Toronto Star: “I'm 110 per cent sure he is not attending the festival. They didn't give us a reason.”
Neeson's publicist, Alan Neirob, he is not staying away to avoid questions over his wife, who died after a skiing accident near Montreal.
JACKSON ESTATE TO PAY FOR FUNERAL
Michael Jackson's estate is to foot the bill for his funeral, nearly two months after the city of Los Angeles paid millions for his memorial ceremony.
Jackson is due to be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California, tonight amid strict security.
Streets around the cemetery were closed off to the public and airspace above it was restricted.
The funeral costs will include reimbursing Glendale for the extra police and traffic control coverage.
“The expenses will be extraordinary, but Michael Jackson was extraordinary,” said Jeryll Cohen, a lawyer for the estate's administrators.
FOURTH BABY FOR MARK WAHLBERG?
Newly married actor Mark Wahlberg and his wife Rhea Durham are said to be expecting their fourth child.
A source told People magazine the happy news after Durham was spotted at The Grove in Los Angeles at the weekend sporting a baby bump.
The Departed star Wahlberg, 38, and Durham, 30, are already parents to Ella Rae, who turned six yesterday, Michael, three, and 11-month-old Brendan.
Last summer Wahlberg, the youngest of nine, talked about wanting a big family.
“When the kids are good we want eight or nine,” he said, calling life with so many youngsters “hectic, but a lot of fun.”
BEN AFFLECK IN TOP SHAPE
Hunky Ben Affleck has spent four months working with a top sports coach to get into shape for his new film, The Town.
He has been doing daily cardio and strength training with Walter Norton, strength and conditioning coach for the Boston Celtics baseball team.
“He's dedicated," Norton told the Boston Herald. “He not only has set aside time to train, he gets the proper rest and maintains a proper diet.
“He does the things other people would struggle with on a daily basis, and really excels.
“I'd like to take more credit. But he's pretty strict. He's not a guy who comes up with excuses.”
BONO RESCUES SPIDER-MAN
The troubled Broadway production of Spider-Man is moving ahead thanks to help from Bono, who, with The Edge, wrote the score.
The show was closed down last month because producer David Garfinkle bust his $45 million budget.
But designers and some stage hands were due to go back to work yesterday, and the U2 frontman is said to have been the one coming to the rescue.
“Bono's too smart to but his own money in the show, but word on the street is that's tapped into his vast network of rich friends and business associates to restart production,” said New York Post theatre writer Michael Riedel.
DANIEL CRAIG WANTS PROTECTION
James Bond star Daniel Craig is said to have demanded extra security while he is rehearsing for his Broadway debut.
He has asked for round-the-clock minders while he prepares for A Steady Rain, according to the New York Post.
Co-star Hugh Jackman, on the other hand, has not asked for any protection.
A production source said: “Everybody thinks it's funny because the truth is, Daniel rarely gets approached by the public in the street and at restaurants – especially now that he has the huge handlebar moustache for this role.”
Another Broadway source added: “Security and secrecy around the show are so tight that Jackman and Craig are rehearsing at a secret location outside the city.
LEANN RIMES CONFIRMS DIVORCE RUMOURS
Country music star LeAnn Rimes has finally confirmed that she is getting divorced.
The 26-year-old singer has made the announcement on her Web site.
In a message to her fans, Rimes wrote: "After much thoughtful mutual consideration, Deane and I have agreed to move forward with dissolving our marriage."
Rimes and back-up dancer Deane Sheremet were married in February 2002.
But recently Rimes has been romantically linked with actor Eddie Cibrian, her co-star in the TV movie Northern Lights.
Cibrian, 36, filed for divorce from his wife of eight years, Brandi, last week.
His wife said at the time of the break-up that Rimes was welcome to him.
LINDSAY LOHAN SKIPS OUT ON LEASE
Hollywood beauty Lindsay Lohan is moving house - after skipping out on her lease allegedly owing her landlord around US$50,000 in potential unpaid rent.
The often unpredictable 23-year-old actress has also been accused of wrecking the property during the seven months she has lived there.
"Lindsay has five months left on her lease," said one neighbour, who had talked to her landlord. "She's breaking her lease by moving on at this time.”
The neighbours said they had spoken to the owner of the residence who told them she had walked out on her year-long lease breaking the terms of their agreement.
MEGAN FOX KISSED A GIRL – AND SHE LIKED IT
Screen sex siren Megan Fox has kissed a girl - and she liked it.
The brunette bombshell, named the sexiest woman in the world last year, has revealed in a new interview that she feels most "comfortable" snogging with the fairer sex.
Megan especially likes kissing actress Amanda Seyfried, with whom she shares an on-screen smooch in the upcoming horror flick Jennifer's Body.
"I feel much safer with girls, so I felt more comfortable kissing her in the movie than kissing any of the other people that I had to kiss," Megan told MTV News.

Top Hollywood director Roland Joffe, who was nominated for an Oscar for his Jesuit priests drama The Mission, has turned his attention to the Roman Catholic Church's most controversial members.
The British-born film maker, who was also nominated for a best director Oscar for his intense movie The Killing Fields in 1985, is in Argentina making a biographical picture about the founder of Catholic cult Opus Dei.
Josemaria Escriva sided with Spanish dictator Francisco Franco during the country's civil war.

HALLE BERRY EXPECTING SECOND CHILD
X-Men beauty Halle Berry is expecting her second child at the age of 43.
The former Bond babe, who co-starred with Pierce Brosnan in 2002's 007 action flick Die Another Day, used artificial insemination to conceive, according to reports in the United States.
The father is her long-time boyfriend, French Canadian male model Gabriel Aubry, with whom she already has a child, American magazine Life & Style says.
The couple's daughter, Nahla, who was born in 2007, was conceived through in vitro fertilisation after the actress – once named the Sexiest Woman Alive - took more than 30 negative pregnancy tests trying to have her first baby.
Berry is thrilled to become a mother again, a source tells the magazine.
MEGAN FOX A ONE-MAN WOMAN
Transformers star Megan Fox says she's a one-man woman who has only had a handful of boyfriends.
But she believes women always have the upper hand in relationships with the opposite sex.
Fox, 23, who is back with fiance Brian Austin Green after a break earlier this year, told Cosmopolitan: “I have no problem with commitment – you can't have a real relationship without it.
“I can flip on a switch in my brain and even if the next Brad Pitt is standing next to me I won't look at him. But I can also turn that switch off, and then I collect attractive boys.”
She said she loves putting men in their place when they try to pick her up, especially if they play the celebrity card.
RENE ZELLWEGER IN CAR ACCIDENT
Actress Renee Zellweger has been involved n a minor car accident in Beverly Hills but was unhurt.
The 40-year-old star of Bridget Jones's Diary and Miss Potter was driving alone in her Mercedes SUV.
“A green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-turn in front of her silver Mercedes,” Beverly Hills Police Lt Tony Lee told People magazine.
“Ms Zellweger was not injured, the damage to her car was very minor, She was very polite and sincere.
“The incident will be handled between their insurance companies.”
He added: Ms Zellweger requested her car be towed from the scene and also requested that officers call her a cab.”
CHRIS BROWN STILL LOVES RIHANNA
Singer Chris Brown has revealed he still loves Rihanna, six months after he beat her up.
And he has denied saying he could not remember the incident in which he left her with a bruised face and bloody lip.
Brown, 20, spoke out after a 30-second segment of an interview with talk show host Larry King was released in which he was asked if her remembered it and he said “no”.
But in a detailed statement to People magazine he said he “misspoke” and that his interview had been manipulated.
“There have been reports on the Internet that I didn't remember what happened that night with Rihanna,” he said. “I want to try and set things straight.
