SYLVESTER STALLONE REVEALS SCENE WITH BRUCE AND ARNOLD
Sylvester Stallone has lifted the lid on the long-awaited scene which unites him with fellow action stars Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Stallone, 61, is directing The Expendables, with a who's who cast of muscle-men, including Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin.
He is also starring, playing a mean mercenary.
Now he has revealed that Schwarzenegger, 62, plays his old rival and that Willis' character has to I was choose between the two hard men for a particularly dangerous mission.
Stallone told Entertainment Weekly: “I was just looking at the dailies, saying, 'Jesus, this is amazing!'
“I talked about this scene with these guys for a long time but I never thought it would come to fruition.”
He said the three come together in a church, where Willis, 54, has summoned him for their first face-to-face meeting.
“Bruce says, 'Well, there's one other person I want to talk to before I hire you,'” he went on.
“And then Arnold, who plays my old rival, walks in. We have a history together.
“And we go back and forth and I tell him that I should have shot him a long time ago when I had the chance.
“Then it goes from there. And here we are, the three of us trying to man up to one another, playing off who we are, using our baggage in this one scene.”
The big scene – the first time the three have been seen together in a feature film -- has been reported to be a cameo, but Stallone said it will be more than that.
“It's probably going to be about five minutes of screen time,” he said, adding that the other two were only on the set for about six hours.
“We only had them for that one day and then Bruce had to go off to Istanbul and Arnold had to go back and do his governmental stuff.
“But I was impressed because they got up at 5.30 in the morning to do this.”
Asked if Schwarzenegger, whose only screen appearance since being elected Governor of California in 2003 was a cameo role in Around the World in 80 Days in 2004, had lost his edge, Stallone replied: “It's like riding a bicycle!”
He added: “It's funny, because between the three of us, if you add up all the box office and DVD rentals and all of that, there's like $15 billion in that one scene.”
